3 Tips For Improving Golf Swings

Posted by Dana Cain under: Golf .

The game of golf requires that every player, amateur or pro, to forever work on improving the fabled golf swing. After all-even the most seasoned players practice the game and try to find ways to improve their scores and to get their swings as perfect as possible. Fortunately, there are so many resources of all varieties that you can use to work on your swing. Remember, there is more to golf than simply hitting the ball as hard as you can. There are things you can do to improve your accuracy as well. So we want to help you out, and we’re going to discuss three tips that can help you with your golf swing.

Always avoid swinging too fast – danger there. Too fast of a swing tends to be more of newbie golfer mistake, though. Those who are experts suggest a little pause when you’re at the top of your fabulous swing. You’re not going for drama, so no need to make it very long. There needs to be rhythm in your swing, so the pause is just a very brief moment. There is a transition period in your swing when you pass from swinging back to forward, so if there is no pause then you’ll lose all control over the swing.

You’ll want to maintain body weight on the inside of the right foot. That is something you need to keep in mind especially when you’re first learning how to play. So what you’ll do is sort of ‘rest’ on the right knee so you’ll have a better chance of generating more natural power. You must focus on putting weight on your right knee so you will have more control and power. As you can imagine, it’s really important to have the ability to be steady. Your right leg needs to be like a tree trunk, but not rigid of course.

So for powerful swings, you will make use of your leg muscles and those in the trunk of your body. Just remember that it’s not arm strength that generates the power. That is also a typical new golfer mistake. Hitting the ball and trying to generate power with only the muscles of your wrists and arms is dangerous and can cause injury. Your power will come from learning to harness the dynamics of your body – legs and trunk. This helps you maintain your stance. Your arms and wrists will have protection against injuries. It also helps ensure that you will be able to send the ball quite a ways without having to feel some sort of impact trauma in your arms or in the bones of your wrist.

Golf is a great game, and a lot of people enjoy going golfing when they have free time. But one thing to keep in mind is that getting better takes patience and dedication. And that applies especially with your golf swing. Millions of golfers make progress with their golf swings all the time, and it’s something you can do, as well.
