A year later, Adams founded TaylorMade Golf from a loan in McHenry, Illinois. Offering a single product, a 12 driver cast of stainless steel, Adams started his small business having only 3 employees to help him out.
With Gary's discovery that a two-piece golf ball performs better with a metal wood, Adams was then inspired to create a wood out of metal. From that discovery came the birth of TaylorMade. With Lee Trevino's victory on his second US PGA title in 1984 using a TaylorMade Metalwood, it was then that TaylorMade was given much more attention by the public.
From the birth of TaylorMade which started from the victory of Trevino, the company was given a bigger chance of introducing itself to everyone in the world. By the time that the company was acquired by French company Salomon S.A., TaylorMade was even made popular and expanding its market to a wider range of clients around the globe.
This opportunity gave a chance for Taylor Made to expand its product range to other TaylorMade golf equipment. These products are the TaylorMade irons, TaylorMade putters, Taylormade fairway woods, TaylorMade golf balls and TaylorMade golf bags. In the year 1990, TaylorMade became the number one metalwood product for the PGA Tour. Only a year after, it also become the number one brand for PGA, LPGA and Senior PGA Tours.
