Posted by Dan Easterling under: Golf .
You can't play golf without golf balls. Many people find that for every game they play they lose a certain number of golf balls. A duffer can lose more than a dozen per nine hole round. Making sure you have a plentiful supply of golf balls assures you have a pleasant game.
While playing, stay alert for chance to pick up an errant golf ball. Many players can leave balls behind that you can pick up. Don't interrupt your game to find golf balls, but you can avail yourself of the opportunities to do so. If you happen to put a ball close to a hazard of any kind, you can then at least look into it and many times you will be rewarded by a free golf ball. You might not enjoy getting your arm wet reaching into a water hazard, but just think of the world of free golf balls waiting to be plucked out of the water hazard.
Many sources of golf balls are available for the savvy shopper. You can find discount used golf balls at local sporting goods shops. Huge discounts are available on these, since the shops want to turn over their inventory. Even though these balls are used they have been refurbished and are perfectly fine for most golf games.
Used golf balls usually come in a variety of brands and colors. Only professional level players can usually tell a difference between new and refurbished golf balls. They have their swing down pat and are so familiar with their equipment, they can feel the slightest difference in the reaction of the ball. Most players have not put in enough practice to be able to do this. Most casual players can not tell the difference between hitting an expensive golf ball and a cheap golf ball.
Other places to find golf balls include internet stores, big retailers such as Walmart, Sam's, and Sears. The internet also has diverse offerings including brand new brand name golf balls all the way to refurbished, graded golf balls. Beware, you need to check shipping costs, sometimes that is more than the price of the golf balls you purchased.
Some players might not using "found" balls but the savings add up. Over a year, a few dollars a week can make quite a difference. Money saved this way can fund a golf trip to a favored course or that special club you might not afford otherwise.
Therefore, you should remember the golf ball savings techniques that have been discussed so far: first of all, you should always take whatever chance you get to search for golf balls that have been left behind by previous golfers in areas that they are likely to have lost them. Secondly, buy used golf balls from sporting good stores in order to save money. If you follow these two guidelines, you are sure to experience the benefits of being free from paying full price for golf balls.
