Many people confuse the difference between stress and anxiety. Stress comes from our interpretation of our environment which we call the pressures of life. Anxiety on the other hand is caused by high levels of uncertainty in life. Anxiety is more feelings of unease and apprehension. Stress tends release adrenaline into our bodies. Both of these situations cause muscles to become stiff and tense. Your body needs to unwind this tension for better balance. Massage chairs are very helpful in reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Stress is normally caused by what is known as a stressor. Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or even anxious. What is stressful to one person is not necessarily stressful to another. In other words, it is situation dependent and individual dependent.

Anxiety is different from stress in that it can linger after the stressor is gone. Anxiety is associated with feelings of unease and fear. A person with high levels of anxiety will hesitate and ruminate over certain situations. They have not found any clear options and therefore do not take any immediate actions. This type of stress can take a toll on the body especially in prolonged situations.

Stress in modern times has evolved. Stress is associated with the fight or flight reaction. The fight or flight reaction is based on an immediate physical threat. However, nowadays most of our stress is psychological. We think of a certain situation and it causes our body to react. Our bodily reaction is to release adrenaline to prepare the body to fight. This can leave our bodies tense with no release of that energy.

When we experience anxiety we have feelings of unease. We may have a situation where we do not know the outcome. Anxiety may be associated when changing jobs, changing home locations or even deaths of loved ones. Our body tends to release hormones to give the body energy and strength. However, the sustained release of hormones with prolonged anxiety can cause the body to become stiffer through time.

When we face high levels of uncertainty then we generally start to feel anxiety. The feeling of uncertainty and unease become primary. Anxiety causes us to second-guess and in many cases fall into analysis paralysis. You may have felt anxiety when doing things for the first time. Take for instance, your drivers test or your first date. Excitement and uncertainty occur at the same time.

Anxiety is many times a tougher problem to deal with than stress. Stress typically dissipates when the source of the stressor is no longer present. Stress tends to be much more short term than anxiety. Anxiety, on the other hand, may create paralysis. The mind tends to go over and over the same issues without solutions. This causes high levels of uncertainty and hesitation for an individual to act.

Luckily, massage chairs can help you to relieve many of the symptoms of both stress and anxiety. Massage therapy has been increasing in popularity as a natural method to relieve tension and anxiety in our lives. Massage chairs are effective in delivering massage therapy to the whole body.
