Interest in golfing is increasing daily. It is becoming one of the most popular games on the planet with over 100 million people playing a year. Younger people play golf now more than ever.
Golf is a fun sport, but one must have patience. If you play golf, you know that you have to be prepared with the right equipment and the patience to make the right shots. You want to take your time and make sure that you are feeling the put. You want to be sure that your swing will go where you aim, putting the ball close to the hole.
Most everyone can play golf. Playing can feed a budding friendship or cement a long standing one. Playing golf will take you away from the everyday work and worry world, draining stress and anxiety.
To get good at golf, you need to practice just like any other sport. As you progress in your game, practicing different shots will become more important. As you progress in skill, a good thing to do, is to start learning the rules and decorum of golf.
Playing with friends or family can be great fun or you can put in become part of a random group at the course to meet new people.
Golf courses vary also. No two have the same configuration due to variation in land layout and design differences. Game play is not regulated, the rules are self-enforced. Due to these changes course to course, golf can be much more challenging. Strategy and tactics for one course does not necessarily work for another. Note that all baseball, football, and soccer fields are the same.
Scotland was the first country that golf was played in. By the eighteen hundreds the game of golf had spread to the rest of the world. Now there is a large contingent of golfers who literally play around the world. Tournaments can be seen on TV and if you are really interested there is even a golf channel available.
Golf was once considered a rich man's sport. Today, however, people of all socioeconomic levels play golf. The game has become popular with all levels of American society. It is no longer the exclusive domain of men either. Women are an important element of the sport and even have their own professional golf tour, the LPGA. Golfing has become one of the largest pastime sports in America.
Tiger Woods can be said to be the central figure instigating the worldwide golf craze. Among golfers he is legendary due to his power, accuracy and skill on the course.
Furthermore, Tiger's racial background and his underdog status when he began playing professionally has driven the craze. His racial mix has helped create interest in areas of society that before had studiously ignored golf as a sport. Not only has tiger driven this craze in America, he has fueled a worldwide trend of playing, creating golf courses, and travel.
